Works well with only one hand.
Facing a surgery which would prevent me using my dominant hand for a couple months, I was concerned about fixing meals for myself. I ordered this hoping for the best. Turned out it was very easy to use with no help from the right hand, just squeezing repeatedly and the opener “walked” right around the top of the can. The magnet worked well to pick the loose lid off the food. I’d recommend this opener if you are only able to use one hand, short term or permanently.

DO NOT BUY!!!
I eagerly unwrapped my delivery this morning and looked forward to using this can opener today for several cooking projects. I injured my arm & wrist and haven’t been able to use my excellenthand-held can opener for several weeks.I was so disappointed with this new one!. You really need both hands to deal with it. You have to squeeze it (hard!) 34 times to get it to go around a basic Campbell’s soup can!!! It requires as strong a squeeze as a hand exerciser!!! Each squeeze only moves it a fraction of an inch…bizarre! I opened 4 cans to give it a fair shot…each required the same 34 squeezes. Also, each can was left with a tiny pointed “arrow-tipped” piece of metal sticking out from the spot where the lid has to be torn away from the can…way too easy to lacerate a fingertip while emptying the can of its contents!. The tiny magnet is weak & barely grabs the lid strongly enough to raise it back up out of the contents (the lid is tilted down into the contents as the device makes its final cut…which creates the arrow-tip that prevents the lid from being fully separated from the can!).. I’m a massage therapist & have extremely powerful hands; so even with this injury, I can still work & provide my clients with the “hurts-so-good” therapy they have come to expect from me. It just so happens that the particular wrist twist I have to do to use my old handheld unit is not good for my wrist at the moment. But even my strong hands (the uninjured hand too) were challenged by having to squeeze this thing 34 times per can!!!The manufacturer, Chef’n, needs to go back to the drawing board with this unit!I very rarely have felt it necessary to write such a negative review, but I really needed this to work…and it really doesn’t.Will be sending it back! 😕

The lid’s a bit tricky
It’s very easy to open a can with this opener, but it isn’t so easy to get the lid off. It is advertised as being easy to get off the lid using the magnetic something or other. Nothing on it was magnetic, so I still have to use my fingernails or a fork to get the lid off.

Amazing
I love this thing! I have pretty much no use of my left hand. (brain injury resulting in hemiparesis) I can’t use manual can openers. The battery operated ones keep breaking and I’m tired of buying new ones every six months! This thing works so well. Easy to squeeze. I bought an extra one to keep with my camping stuff. I’m going to get another one for the cabin!!

Great one handed use
My husband had a stroke and can not use his left hand. He can now open a can fast and easily. It works great. It’s plastic-ish I just hope it is durable. I would buy this for anyone who has limits

Best Can Opener – EVER
I bought this can opener in an epic quest to find one for a family member who had a stroke, is elderly, and was struggling with opening cans. Long story short–she ended up buying an electric one (even though she still hates it) and didn’t even want to try this one. So I kept it, because I wasn’t in love with my “smooth edge” can opener.Life. Changing. I don’t have awesome grip strength–too many years typing at a desk job. Easiest can opener I’ve ever used. Squeeze until it clicks. Easy to latch onto cans, even easier to open the can, release button barely requires a push, magnet to remove the lid could be a little stronger. But being able to open cans with my non-dominant hand with ease? I’ll buy this one ten times over. Don’t even waste your time with the other junky ones.

This is the most simple and effective Can Opener I have ever used

It is easier to open a can (with ring pull) using this can opener than try to open using conventional ring pull with one hand! Highly recommend for anyone but particularly those with limited use of one of their hands either left or right. Bought this from US but when are these going to be available readily in UK?
