    Highly recommend
Arrived today. This thing is freaking amazing. I bought the left hand version because I’m left handed. I used it to weed around my blueberry bushes, squash and cucumbers and am astounded that the edge is still very sharp and has no nicks or rolled edged even in this East Tennessee dirt. I have already ordered the right hand version because i quickly realized that having both will allow me to reach around the plants and weed without crawling all the way around them. With one in each hand i can quickly weed and loosen the soil in one operation. The only thing i am disappointed about is I am 62 years old and just now finding this thing. At the price if i have to replace them every couple of years due to wearing them out I am ok with that, Because of the shape they should be very easy to re-sharpen with a small fine file or stone. it is single bevel so you should just follow the original bevel from the bottom then a stroke or two on the top to remove any burr. Don’t delay and order yours today

I’m a weed killing ninja now!
So I just got this tool today. I do not know how I have lived this long without this. I just weeded 4 rows of beans that were really bad in like a half hour or so. Its is so sharp! You can just grab grass with your hand and slice right through it. Got a weed with a big root? Use the tip and pop that baby out with ease. The point is great for slowly getting right next to your plants and carefully removing weeds from around the base. Which is why I bought it in the first place. It feels pretty sturdy, it’s really sharp, and I got the hang of using it very quickly. I would say as of using it for one evening that the only improvement I can think of would be maybe a more comfortable handle. Maybe rubber or something a little softer and more ergonomic. It’s no biggie tho. Just buy it. Oh and it comes in left or right handed! Being a lefty, that. Is. Awesome!

Sturdy, left-handed bang for your buck
As a left-handed gardener, certain tasks requiring precision just require a left-handed tool. I’ve tried a similar tools before, and having to use right-handed tools is just not always comfortable or ergonomic. This Nejiri Gama is built to last, and the handle is one continuous piece with little ornamentation. The “stripes” in the handle are actually great for improving grip when working with gloves on, rather than being just “pretty”.Between a Nejiri Gama, Hori Hori (garden knife), and Tomita (handheld sickle), I get a lot of the precision gardening around my big kitchen garden done in very little time. Just my kitchen garden is bigger than many suburban lots, and I like my tools compact and efficient, and durable.TIP: If you’re like me and tend to misplace your tools, consider giving the wood handles a coating of hi-viz orange or pink (or other bright color that stands out against green and brown) spray paint. They won’t look as “magazine perfect”, but you won’t lose them, and the paint can help protect the wood of the handles.

    The best weed destroyer!
Hold the blade parallel to the ground and pull blade toward you. Weeds are sliced right out of the ground with this sharp blade. I used it today and it takes no effort to drag it over the weeds, no more sore hands from pulling them out by hand.

    Nice yard tool
Works great, but you need to keep it sharp. The oil stone I’ve had for years puts a great edge on it.It’s as sharp as a razor, so you need to be careful using it, and put it up so the kids are safe. You could cut a finger off if you’re distracted.

  6. Psyflower

Most effective tools I’ve used for weeding
As a lefty I appreciate the left-handed design. The sharp blade slices through roots much more effectively than any other garden tool I’ve tried. I thought I was going to have to rent a large cultivator to weed my flower beds (which had been long-neglected) but this little thing allowed me to do it myself. It was still labor-intensive (again, my fault for not keeping up with my yard) but I enjoyed the work and this tool made it easy to make fast progress. I will buy again when this one needs to be replaced. Highly recommended.

The best detail weeding tool I have ever used!!!
I am 73 years old and have been gardening most of my life. This tool allows the user to easily flick out a single weed, using the point, or clear a path as wide as the blade, and all widths in between depending on how you hold the tool in relationship to the weeding path you intend to clear. It is well made and properly hardened so that it takes a fine sharp edge and retains it well in normal garden soil. The sharpness and control is so good that it is much better for the weed killing task, of precisely decapitating a weed top from its root system, than any other tool I have use such as full length hoes, loop hoes, or push-pull hoes.

Sharp but Fragile and Questionable Quality
First, I like the tool in general. I was glad to be able to find a left handed version of it. Had never used one before but I watched videos and it seemed to be the tool I need to selectively weed some large areas of flower beds. The good: it’s very sharp, almost like a kitchen knife. It’s light, and the blade angle makes it easy to pull towards you to dig under grass roots, shave off small weeds. The pointed end allows you to dig small roots and dig out weeds that are close to plants you want to keep. The bad: maybe it’s just the one I received but the blade metal is not bonded properly to itself. After about 30 minutes of using it, the pointed end split (delaminated) into a fork shape. Eventually one part of the point chipped off. (See photos of the fork split) I was not particularly aggressive with it, and I followed the use in several videos found online for similar tools. In summary, this tool is very sharp and effective for weeding but I’m not sure the quality control is where it should be. I’m not sure how much longer the tool will last.
