After getting a complete dud of a can opener before, one with reasonably high ratings, I ordered this one. It worked great! It seems sturdy and welll made, and hopefully will last longer than the ones I’ve had recently.

OK, originally, I was going to start by saying “what can I say, it’s a can opener”? Now that I have tried this manual can opener (photos), I think I will start with “Wow”! This is a very impressive manual can opener and, when you read the description, it is even more impressive because the description is accurate. Initially, I did not realize that the can opener had a magnet for removing lids once they have been cut, in part because it is tiny; however, it is a surprisingly powerful magnet (photo) and it works. Moreover, the description is correct that the design of this can opener makes opening cans easy and it cuts the lids with a smooth rather than jagged edge (photo). And, because it cuts the lid rather than simply remove the lids, you can squeeze excess liquid (e.g., from a can of tuna fish) easily. Also, unlike some can openers, this one completely cut the lids. There was no “tag” of metal that still attached the lid to the can. I tried the can opener on various sizes of cans and I also asked my Wife to try it. We both found it easy to operate. I cannot comment on whether or not the can opener will “withstand years of daily [use]”, but I would definitely have one or two of these can openers on hand.PROS• This is a good, solid manual can opener.• It cuts the lids off cleanly and with no remnant tag of metal.• Although tiny, the magnet definitely is strong enough to lift the lid off of the can and still keep your hands clean.• Easy to open cans.• The handles and turning knob are comfortable.CONS• None.

Very sharp can opener
Very sharp can opener, it cuts through the metal lid much easier than my previous opener. The only reason I took a star off is that after one wash, it already developed slight rust on some spots. Now I make sure to dry it really well before storage and haven’t had an issue since, but it was surprising how quickly it developed rust since it wasn’t like soaking wet when it was put away.

Does the trick
Not having a can opener doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, until you have a can of beans that you can’t open. My last can opener disappeared into the void after my move a couple of months ago. I didn’t think anything of it until someone gave me some canned goods. Planned to make an entire meal with a couple of the canned goods as the sides. My hopes were immediately dashed after rummaging through the kitchen drawers provided no help.Anyway, This can opener is more than sufficient. The magnet helped keep it stuck to the lid of the can even though the cutting wheel had a tight grip on it. Speaking of the cutting wheel, it works so well. It didn’t take all of my forearm and hand strength in order to get a clean cut. After the lid was ready to be taken off, I didn’t have to dig it out with a butter knife. The magnet held onto it long enough for me to grab it with my fingers.It’s a can opener, it isn’t hard to use and it doesn’t need much explanation. It works and isn’t low quality. Go ahead and grab it, I don’t think you’ll regret it. 🙂

Works Well and Feels Well Made
This is a pretty standard classic can opener. It feels well built and the handle is comfortable. My old one was…well…OLD. The difference between this one and that one is pretty extreme. The new one is much easier to use. I’m sure the old one had dulled quite a bit from a decade of use. The turning knob or whatever you call it is bigger than most I’ve used and it feel more comfortable in my hand than any I remember owning.
