Whether you have arthritis or just need a helping hand in the kitchen, the OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener with Base Pad is the perfect partner. From small bottles that are hard to get a good grip on to jars lids that require a lot of strength, the Twisting Jar Opener makes quick work of any lid with minimal effort needed. To use, just place the base pad on a flat surface in front of you and put the bottle or jar on top; the non-slip surface will help keep the jar from sliding. Ensure the Jar Opener is open, then position it on top of the jar in the middle of the lid. Holding the jar steady in one hand, use the other hand to turn the Jar Opener counterclockwise until the sharp teeth grip the lid. Continue turning the handle until the lid is open. When you’re finished, the base pad secures to the Jar Opener for convenient storage.

    Great Jar Opener
    I had a jar that I was unable to open using any of my usual techniques and tools despite a number of attempts. I was considering just throwing the product in the trash, but decided to give this a try. it was very easy to use, and it opened the jar with almost no effort on my part.

    You can’t go wrong with the OXO brand! I bought this jar opener for my dad who is having more difficulty in his older years with arthritis and gripping things. He was so excited to try it out that he was actually looking for things to open up. If dad is happy, then I am happy. Excellent purchase!

    Worked On Our Most Difficult Jar
    My wife loves Rao’s Homemade Marinara sauce. It comes in the most difficult jar to open that we’ve ever seen. Unlike many companies that use this type of vacuum-sealed jar lid which has indentations along the lid allowing for a pretty good grip, Rao’s uses the same type of lid with no indentations, and regardless of how strong your hand is, your hand just slips around the edge. We had tried an Oxo wedge-shaped device that works on some jars but not this one.This Oxo grips the lid firmly, but you will still need two people, one to hold the jar and one to turn the handle, then the lid pops right off. That little rubber mat that is included does not help other than to keep from marring your countertop. I’m a little skeptical as to durability but this thing works very well. I would definitely buy it again if this one broke, but again, on some jars, you are still going to need two people.

    This little bugger WORKS!
    A few months back, we bought a great big gorgeous jar of pickled jalapeños at the local produce stand. I could not open it, not even with all the usual tricks of tapping the jar, hot water, challenging every male who entered the kitchen… (our dog just looked at me as he wagged his body.) It’s like they used a hydraulic jar sealer to shut that thang up! (Read that with your deep south accent please.)So we got the bright idea to search for a better jar opener than the one in my kitchen drawer that works great on my bottle of vanilla when it gets cranky.First try was an electric one. (Hey. Go big is the name of this game.) It didn’t work, that’s why it’s called the “first one.”Then I tried this little doohickey. (It was delivered to the locker of choice while I was getting dressed for church this morning.) Well, let me tell you, this little OXO bugger worked! It still required my husband’s extra strong right arm (because of the hydraulics, don’t ya know) but by golly gee it went POP and we now have beautiful yummy pickled jalapeños. Come over if you want a taste. I will be throwing some into a batch of sourdough bread tomorrow morning. Yum.

    Best I’ve Ever Used
    This is the very best jar opener I have ever used! It is made so that it is very easy to use. I do not have the strength I once had in my hands. With one easy twist the jar is open in seconds! No trouble at all! All the others I’ve tried are garbage compared to this one. You will not be disappointed!

    Work fine for seniors with weak hand strength.
    Works fine. We are retired senior citizens without a lot of hand strength. This opener has bigger jaws than cheaper versions. Jaws also have “teeth”. To grip the lid better. Would have been better is the jaws would open beyond 3.5 inches.

    Simply the easiest jar/bottle opening tool I’ve ever used. My age-ravaged hands now struggle with jars, bottles etc. basically anything that you need to grip and twist was practically useless to me unless someone else was around to open it for me. That’s all changed now due to the clever design. I just put the tool on top of the item to open, twist the handle and it automatically adjusts the grips to the correct size, then opens it. Doddle.I’ve had it for over a year and it’s still working great so I’d say it’s pretty good value considering the trouble it’s saved me.It’s mostly plastic with a soft plastic handle and what appear to be stainless steel grips (at least, there’s no rust on the grips in over a year).It doesn’t really get dirty so a quick wipe with a damp cloth is enough to clean it.I recommend.Opens tops approximately 30mm up to 95mm.
